The weekend was filled with fun and a lot of great deals.
Friday night Dave and I went to the new movie theater with intentions of seeing W, but the projector was broken and they weren't able to show it. We got to pick another movie for free and got a free ticket for anytime we wanted to come back. We saw Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist instead, which was really cute. I enjoyed the soundtrack, and the movie overall really made me miss living in NJ and being able to go to NY.
Saturday, we went to the USF homecoming game. Kickoff was at 12, so we got there around 9:15 to tailgate. All the tailgaters were making eggs and drinking beer. When I was in high school, my Dad always would say to my friends and me that when we turned 21 he'd make us beer and eggs. Well he never did, so I had to do it myself, lol. It was so hot at the game, and we all forgot sunscreen, so we got super burned. i have an awesome farmer tan, haha. They won the game, so we are still ranked. I was worried we wouldn't be after the performance 2 weeks ago. No tailgating for 3 weeks makes me sad, but it should make it even better when we do.
After the game, we went home, showered because we felt gross from being outside, then went to Texas Roadhouse. We were starving at that point, so we figured why not use our free appetizer coupon. We came home to watch the Rays game, where effing Boston tied it up. GRR, I knew they were gonna take it to game 7! I ended up not watching all of it because I was really tired, sunburned, and all day had the worst heartburn of my life.
Sunday morning Dave and I went to the usual breakfast place. We got there right as they opened and they didn't have what i ordered, so the cook let me order something else and took my meal off the tab. Sweet, another deal! I worked with Melissa at the portrait studio. I had a really great sale of $385. I later found out that the guy I was selling to was one of the Tampa Bay Bucs linemen at one time (Cosey Coleman) I'm not sure if he still plays or not, but Dave heard of him a few years ago when he was working as a public deffender. Apparently, this guy got into an argument with his wife and hit her, then got thrown in Orient Rd. jail for awhile. NICE. The guy was actually pretty nice to me and his kids were super cute and well behaved.
After work, I met Dave, his mom, and his grandma at a restaurant inside the mall. we ate yummy pizza, then afterwards went to Wal-mart to look for pez, then back to Dave's to watch game 7. RAYS WON BABY! ALL THE WAY TO THE WORLD SERIES WE GO! I'm so glad we beat Boston. I don't really have a thing against Boston, but I was rooting for the Rays all year. The Rays are one of the lowest paid teams in the league and have never been good, so it just proves if you have the heart you can make it all the way. I'm so excited for the World Series.
We're in the world series baby!!!
OMG, this game is so nerve racking!
Today my sister and I decided to clean out the refrigerator. Since we hadn't done this in quite some time, we found some scary unidentifiable food from God only knows how long ago. One thing we did find was a container of coffee creamer that expired in March. ewww. We didn't even bother to open the containers, we just threw them away. So now we need to go grocery shopping...and buy some cheap tupperware.
Dave and I just got finished putting up some Halloween decorations. Dave is really into Halloween. I am too, but I'm generally too lazy to put decorations up anywhere, so I never buy any. Dave has 10 boxes of them so we went a little nuts.
We are still not even close to being done and have boxes all over the living room, but it's Halloween is still a few weeks away so we have plenty of time.
Dave just made dinner for us. Since he also needs to go grocery shopping, we had to get a little creative. We decided on cooking up some ground turkey with onions, fresh basil (from our garden) and pepper. Then we boiled some penne and mixed it together. Basically like a healthier version of hamburger helper. Pretty good.
Hello. Nice to meet you. My name is Barbara DiLisio. I’m a 25 year old
Jersey girl that has been living in Florida for the past 7 years. I’m an
educated, optimistic, independent female that believes in the good. I think good design can motivate, inspire, and
possibly even change people. I’ve
decided to become an interactive designer to try and help do all three. Welcome to my world...
not sure yet...
Today I started my last quarter. I'm not counting internship as a class (even though I have to show up every week to "meet" and pay for it-such b.s.) so the only class I have is portfolio. It will be intense for sure. Web Design and Interactive Media students have to have 3 components to their portfolio: the website, book, and a flash demo reel. The only thing we need to have to pass the class is our web site, but since we are all 12th quarter, everyone needs the other components for our final review to graduate. I'm glad this is the only class I have to take. I want everything to look perfect and if I don't have to worry about other classes I should have enough time to get everything done.
I really like my professor. He's a "tell it like it is" kind of guy. I hate when professors try to be nice. Tell me if you think my work sucks and fail people that don't follow the classroom procedures. I like no nonsense teachers like this. In the past, I've done well in classes with professors like this. He also has 38 years of experience in the graphic design field, so he knows his stuff and should be a big help.
Our first assignment is to write a "bio' about ourselves that we will eventually put somewhere on our website. Basically, it will just be talking about or strengths and things we stand for. I have a bunch of phrases and descriptive words written down on a piece of paper that I think sum up myself pretty well, but the hard part will be translating that into a few paragraphs that make sense.
In 3 months, all of this will be over
Last night Dave, Dave, Anna, and I went to Halloween Horror Nights. I've never been before and it was good times. The haunted houses were pretty scary, the zombie one was by far the best. You could hardly see where you were going and anytime a light flashed, someone was right in my face! I'm such a chicken when it comes to haunted houses, but I love them! We got a frequent pass, so we get to go back and see the other scare zones we missed.
I was going to take more pictures, but it was really hard to see anything because of all the fog machines.
I did take some before hand
Dave and I went to Target today so I could purchase a new hair dryer. I was surprised to see one that cost $200!! Seriously?? How is a $200 hair dryer different than the one I got for $12. Can someone please explain this to me?
I can take "seeing Gwar live" off the list of things I want to do before I die. I haven't had that much fun at a concert in a long time. Ridiculous, obscene, offensive, and borderline scary entertainment.
I'm so used to having homework, so when I have breaks from school, I tend to get incredibly bored. I'm sticking to a really strict budget, so I can't really go anywhere. I watched like 7 episodes of Arrested Development on hulu.com. I started working on a project in Adobe Illustrator last week, but I kind of lost interest in it. I might pick it back up. I should have brought my rollerblades here so I could roll around the neighborhood. Dave should be coming home from class soon, so hopefully I'll have someone to play with.
Although the past 2 days have been boring, this weekend is actually pretty eventful. Dave an I are going to see GWAR tonight. I'm super excited for this. I've been wanting to experience this band live for years. Dave told me I had to wear a white t-shirt and take before and after pictures.
Sunday night, were going to Halloweenn Horror Nights at Universal. I've never been to HHN in all the years I've lived here. It should be an experience. I'll be taking pictures!
