I love having a 9-6 job because I get to spend the weekends doing whatever I want. So far this weekend has been pretty fun. Friday night Dave and I went to see Taken. It was my kind of movie all the way-suspense, action, and cool stunts. I'm not really into those sappy, girlie romances. Give me action and suspense or something that will make me laugh until I cry and I'm much happier.
Saturday I bummed around the house for most of the morning while Dave was in class. I got out of the house for a little bit and went to buy my month of tanning. It was weird spending money on myself like that because I normally don't. Like ever. I actually hate spending money and am much more of a saver. When the girl behind the counter told me the total was $90 ($50 for the month of tanning, plus the $35 lotion and eyewear) I sort of cringed, but I'm already starting to see results after going for only 2 days, so I guess it's worth it. Plus my lotion smells like coconuts and reminds me of the beach.
Saturday night Dave and I headed to the fair. I love the fair. The carnies are fun to mess with, there's all sorts of random things for sale, silly sea lion and racing pig shows, and of course, the abundance of crappy food. Oh man, did I eat some food. Fried oreos, corndogs, pork sandwiches, strawberry milkshakes, and the best thing ever...chocolate dipped bacon. YES, YOU HEARD ME....BACON DIPPED IN CHOCOLATE. My two favorite foods finally together as one. It was fantastic.
Today we did the usual breakfast at our favorite cafe, then we decided to head around town to look for a wii. We called Target and they actually had some in stock! Dave and I agreed to go halfsies on it like 2 weeks ago, but haven't had much luck finding one until today. We got home about an hour ago and have been playing wii sports. I rock at bowling and boxing, but wasn't so good at the tennis. right now, my sister is trying to master her golf swing. She's not doing well.
We're about to head out to the Forum to watch some Ice sports racing thing. We won tickets at one of the USF games we went to and I agreed to pay for Chrissy to get in since she's been feeling down lately and needs to get out of the house, It should be fun.
The tattoo fest was interesting. It was great to get to see Tom and catch up after not being in contact for close to a year. Boy has he had quite the year. Car accident that put him on medical leave for a few weeks, job fires him while on medical leave (he's taking legal action), girl friend goes crazy and maces him, then steals his car and totals it (he later finds out she had a coke addiction), sells his Harley and buys and old Jeep Cherokee, takes up surfing to get his mind off all the shit that just happened, loses the house he was in and moves to an apartment in Philly, starts a body jewelry making business, meets a roller derby chick, finds out rollergirl is sleeping with her ex still, travels all over the place with no real rhyme, reason, or expectation. God, I love this guy.
In so many ways I envy him. He had saved enough money when he was working his 9-5 to be ok for awhile and he has town homes he rents out to people so he doesn't really NEED a real job. He goes wherever he wants, whenever he wants and doesn't really have a care in the world. He has some of the most interesting friends I've ever met. I could NEVER do it though. I'd have too many panic attacks worrying about how I was going to pay bills. I need some sort of stability and I'm definitely not ballsy enough to do half of the things he's done. But being around him, and people that are like him is fun and interesting. You never know what's going to happen, where you'll be the next day, who you'll meet, where you're going or how long you're staying. It's dangerous, full of adrenaline, and I absolutely love it to some degree. I think that's why I was so attracted to him for such a long time. The idea of him is so intense. He'd also give you the shirt off his back.
Bob was definitely out of his element, but he made the best of it. I felt out of my element most of the time. Before we actually got the show, we stopped at Mema's for some Alaskan Tacos. Delicious. After we left, we heaed to the Crowbar to grab a 2-4-1 Magner's (yum), then Bob went to Starbucks to get a cappicino with 3 shots of espresso in it. He had been up all night talking to his g/f and was pretty tired.
He dropped me off back at Dave's and we spent a few hours together before going out to eat and watching the Cardinals rape the Panthers. I love rooting for the underdog.
I slept in this morning, then we went to breakfast, returned $125 worth of tile to Lowe's, looked at the cutest english bulldog puppy at Petland (not $4k cute though :( ) and now we are home watching the Eagles/Giants game. Dave is a giants fan. I'm an Eagles fan. It's so on.
It's Neil and Sara's last day here. It will be sad to see them go. We've done quite a bit in the past few days, most of which involved lots of food. My stomach isn't thanking me. Sorry stomach. I'll start really getting into my diet once they leave and I settle back into my work routine. I'm not sure if I mentioned this before, but my family is all participating in a biggest loser competition. Whoever loses the highest percentage of weight wins. We had to do it this way in order to make it fair for me because I'm the littlest in the group. I'm still going to kick all their butts though.
We had a great New Years. Lots of food, lots of drinks. I'd post pictures, but I left my camera in my moms car. It was a really fun time though, I promise. We went running yesterday, then chilled, went for a walk, and ate bbq. Later that night I took Neil and Sara to their first college basketball game, where USF got stomped by Syracuse. It was fun though.
I'm not sure what we are doing today. Their plane leaves at 5:30, so we have a good chunk of time. It's been a fun few days.
Last night Dave, Dave, Anna, and I went to Halloween Horror Nights. I've never been before and it was good times. The haunted houses were pretty scary, the zombie one was by far the best. You could hardly see where you were going and anytime a light flashed, someone was right in my face! I'm such a chicken when it comes to haunted houses, but I love them! We got a frequent pass, so we get to go back and see the other scare zones we missed.
I was going to take more pictures, but it was really hard to see anything because of all the fog machines.
I did take some before hand
I can take "seeing Gwar live" off the list of things I want to do before I die. I haven't had that much fun at a concert in a long time. Ridiculous, obscene, offensive, and borderline scary entertainment.
